Thanks for visiting!
Welcome to The Harry Crook Centre on Moorlands Road in the greater Fishponds area of Bristol.
The centre was founded by Dr Harry Crook who formed the Bristol 5 Boys Club in 1938 based in the St George area of Bristol, which catered for youth and sporting activities for boys. The club then moved on to Ridgeway playing fields in 1972.
The Harry Crook foundation invested for a new building which was built on Ridgeway playing fields in the Fishponds area of Bristol in 1974.
Over the years numerous organisations and charities have run the centre providing a wide variety of youth activities for young people in the area. The centre regrettably closed a few years ago in which the building was left to ruin and vandalism.
Happy Dayz Pre School moved into the building in February 2015, securing much needed Early Years provision for 2-5 year olds, offering free funded places for eligible 2, 3 and 4 year olds. The Pre School provides high quality care and education for local families in the surrounding area.
Happy Dayz Pre School have worked hard to bring the building into use, with the hard work of staff and volunteers to clean the centre, remove unwanted rubbish, repaint the outside of the building and the 5 aside forecourt. In January 2016 we secured a long term let with Downend Amateur Boxing Club who have helped in the regeneration of the sports hall that will house the club in February 2016.
Happy Dayz Pre School have secured a lease with Bristol City Council to run, repair and maintain the centre to allow it to provide space for voluntary, community groups and organisations to hire meeting rooms.
